Funny moments of today..

Our third ESL unit was "It's a Small World," in which we discussed different parts of the world, people and landmarks. Naturally, the whole chapter was quite euro-centric, and Africa didn't even make the cut.

When the book posed the question of where the Eiffel Tour is located and I asked the class to repeat "Eiffel" aloud, they all screamed out "iPhone?? My mom has an iPhone!"

Then later on, during our transportation lecture, UFO was one of the modes of transport, and one of the kids brought up 2012 and said he knew the world was going to end. When I insisted on knowing who told him that, he kept repeating "I just know." When I implored as to how he just knew, he couldn't answer... he's a smart kid, but I don't think he's tapped in or anything..
